Elaine is a member of the the Asheville Quilt Guild and was the 2008 President.
She co-founded the Hawaiian Quilt Research Project.
She wrote and produced a VHS on the Hawaiian Quilt Research Project.
She has presented at the The Alliance for American Quilts.
She was co-chair of the inaugural Hawaiian Quilt Festival at Blaisdell Center, Honolulu.
She has taught decorative machine quilting course at the Haywood Community College.
